COMPLEXITY → CLARITY

CLAIMS → CREDIBILITY

CULTURE → CONTEXT

FRAMING → PERSPECTIVE

INSIGHT → ACTION

I’ll be real with you: I’m hopeless at doing my own press. So, like a hairdresser knows to pass the scissors, I know to pass the mic. Here’s what others — people and platforms — have to say about me:

Mehvesh Mumtaz Ahmed, Vice President of Impact & Sustainability at Rosewood Hotel Group
“Shivani has a rare ability to bridge purpose and performance, guiding projects with both empathy and precision. As a consultant, she brought insight, integrity and intelligence that was strategic and aligned with our values. I would highly recommend her to any organisation seeking thoughtful, results-oriented collaboration.”

Shivani helps organisations turn complex sustainability challenges into clear, credible and compelling communication that builds trust.

With 15 years’ experience across journalism, strategic public relations and stakeholder engagement, Shivani brings a unique ability to translate technical issues into actionable insight. Formally trained in Business Sustainability Management by the University of Cambridge (CISL), she bridges the gap between intricate policy and those it needs to reach.

Her background spans agency, in-house and freelance roles across travel, hospitality, corporate sustainability and philanthropy — from non-profit foundations and purpose-led campaigns to executive communications and community outreach. She specialises in translating nuanced cultural and societal topics, as well as ESG strategy and regulation, into accurate, accessible and relatable narratives.

Shivani co-founded Unpacking Media Bias, an award-winning archival advocacy newsletter that built a global platform examining framing and colonial bias in travel media. Through its contribution to wider conversations around responsible representation, it challenged — and helped evolve — editorial and marketing standards. Her work reflects a belief that better communication begins with better questions.

Meera Dattani, Executive Editor at Adventure.com & Co-Founder of Unpacking Media Bias
“Shivani’s incredibly astute. She’s able to spot guff, greenwash and nuance in the news immediately, while drawing on a huge bank of knowledge to inform her writing; something I quickly learnt about her during our time working on the Unpacking Media Bias newsletter. She’s passionate about sustainability and social justice, but also about equity in media, which shows clearly in the themes she covers.”

“Shivani is a journalist and communications specialist whose work has increasingly focused on the difficult territory where sustainability, reputation, culture and trust meet.

Over 15 years, she has worked across journalism, PR, stakeholder engagement, sustainability and philanthropy, moving between agency, in-house and independent roles across travel, hospitality and corporate sustainability. She has a particular knack for getting to grips with complicated subjects, spotting what’s missing from the conversation, and turning it into something people can actually understand.

She co-founded Unpacking Media Bias, an award-winning newsletter examining bias and representation in travel media, and continues to bring that same instinct for questioning assumptions to her work with organisations today.

Curious by nature, sceptical of easy answers, and happiest somewhere in the weeds.”
