ABOUT ME
“
IF I DIDN'T DEFINE MYSELF, I WOULD BE CRUNCHED INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S FANTASIES FOR ME AND EATEN ALIVE.

It's about rewriting the narrative. Shivani is a trusted voice on identity, social sustainability and ethical travel, based between London and New York City.
She regularly chairs and contributes to academic and commercial round-table discussions, creates and leads workshops on using tourism as a force for good and interviews social justice campaigners trying to spark wider change. As a journalist, she contributes to Condé Nast Traveller, The Telegraph, The Independent and The Times, among others, and has successfully pushed stories of anti-racism and decolonisation to the front of the book in historically conservative publications.
In 2020, she co-founded Unpacking Media Bias—a fortnightly newsletter that helps writers and editors address and examine ingrained and unconscious bias across media platforms—and was named as one of the 'Top 15 Women in Travel', by BAME Women in Travel (CIC). She later joined the non-profit’s board, where she continues to help break the industry’s barriers to entry for women of colour.
